GIRLS FOOTBALL

First, we got split into groups and then we were told which field we were playing on.

In our groups we played two matches each following a final quarter final and then a semi final. Our team was Annabel, Charlotte, Courtney, Zoe, Zara,

Alysia, Roza and Lottie. Lottie made some amazing saves as she was playing in goal, Roza kept strong and continued battering, Alysia has found her new talent on the football pitch. Zara is such a fast runner so we knew striker would be a good position for her. Zoë tried hard and managed to get her foot to the ball a lot. Courtney was playing most of the games because she was such a strong player. Charlotte ran up and down the pitch like the wind and then scored a goal. Annabel worked very hard and managed to hit the back of the net. Everybody worked hard and we wanted to give girl of the game to everybody but we can not so we chose Courtney because she shone through for us.

William Fletcher had more chances but strong defending from Max and Alex preventing them from scoring and Brize held on till half time. Brize Norton were quick to attack and a shot from Charlie just missed the goal. A shot from Sean only just missed the goal and the game ended 1-0.

Again Brize were quick to attack and good passing from the team made St. Peters struggle. Within 2 minutes a great goal kick from Josh found Haydn who took a shot which hit the crossbar and went in. The score was 1-0 at half time. St. Peters started the second half well but with good keeping from Josh they weren’t able to score. Another goal kick from Josh found Haydn who passed it to Connor who struck the ball nicely into the goal. St. Peters started to attack again and Brize defended well, but conceded a corner which slipped through and found a St. Peter’s player who was well placed and scored. St. Peters had got themselves back into the game though Brize never gave, with shots from Connor and Haydn just missed the goal. Again St. Peters attacked quickly and got another corner. Brize tried to clear it but a St. Peter’s player got in the way and knocked the ball in . The game ended 2-2.

Brize Norton 0-1 Our Lady of Lords

As the game began Our Lady attacked first scoring within the first few minuets. Brize struggled a bit but a neat ball from Charlie found Josh who ran in and hit the ball just wide. Brize had more chances with near missed shots, putting the Our Ladies keeper under a lot of pressure. Our Ladies attacked more but they could not score against Connor in goal. 0-1 at half time. Our lady attacked again but great defending from Max didn’t let the opposition get another goal. A great pass by Josh found Sean whose shot only just went over. The game ended 0-1.

Brize Norton 0-1 Kirtlington

Kirtlington attacked quickly and scored in under a minute. Brize had more chances after, but again the ball would not hit the net. If we had won this game we would have been crowned champions, the pressure was on. Strong defending from Max prevented the opposition from increasing their lead.
In the second half Haydn made many saves after Kirtlington had got through the Brize defence on numerous occasion keeping the scoreline to a respectable single goal.
A great tackle from Charlie later on stopped Kirtlington adding to their earlier goal.
